Puerto Santiago, Playa de la Arena and Los Gigantes are three connecting urban parts of the greater community of Santiago del Teide. They form the northern limit of the south-west coast of Tenerife. 300 m high vertical cliffs, that drop straight into the sea, offer, apart from their stunning sight, perfect shelter from high winds. They award to this region a largely balanced, mild, dry and warm climate. Playa de la Arena: The sandy beach of the same name can be reached from Villa Terber by a five minutes walk without crossing a road. On the opposite side you will find an excellent infrastructure. There are numerous restaurants, ice cream parlours, snack bars, hair dressers, banks, super-markets, as well as physicians and pharmacies. Food and shopping: The local professional fishermen provide seasonal delicacies from the sea. The restaurants offer fish specialities made from freshly caught fish and prepared various recipes. Within walking distance you will find a super market with an overwehlming choice of fresh fish and seafood. Fresh fruits and vegetables are available the whole year around. Many restaurants, shops, shopping centres stay open until late at night and will accept credit cards. Transport: Regular bus services to all parts of the island and inexpensive taxis are within walking distance. There is also the possibility of car, motorcycle, or mountainbike rentals.
